Rangers are closing in on Partizan midfielder Vanja Dragojevic as their seventh signing of the summer.

The Gers have also been linked with a move for Tromso youngster Jens Hjerto-Dahl and they may still get that deal over the line later.

For now, the Serbia international is set to sign for the Light Blues, joining Lawrence Shankland, Ross McCrorie, Ben Godfrey, Ivor Pandur, Dan Neil and Cammy Devlin.

The Ibrox hierarchy have been in advanced talks to get Dragojevic from Partizan this transfer window.

While the 20-year-old is still young, his leadership skills have been evident in recent seasons.

Derek McInnes is clearly looking to add more character to the Glaswegian outfit's squad, and the defensive-midfielder will certainly do that.

Why Rangers could still move for Jens Hjerto-Dahl

Dragojevic's arrival leaves McInnes with a packed midfield at the Gers, yet that may change soon.

The Light Blues are expecting bids for Nicolas Raskin to arrive soon.

Connor Barron and Mohamed Diomande are also in the final two years of their contracts and have been linked with moves away from Ibrox.

According to the Rangers Review on 17 July, exits from the engine room could open up the possibility of another midfield signing later in the window.

As a result, the Glaswegian outfit's prospects of signing Hjerto-Dahl shouldn't be ruled out.

Why Ibrox hierarchy can't wait forever to sign Jens Hjerto-Dahl

Ibrox News covered a recent report of Rangers officials flying to Tromso to negotiate terms for Hjerto-Dahl.

The Gers seem intent on continuing their midfield overhaul with Dragojevic.

If Barron and Diomande do leave the Light Blues in the coming weeks, it would make sense to get another body through the door to bolster the position.

Tochi Chukwuani may be the only prominent senior midfielder from last season's squad to remain at the Glaswegian outfit in the coming weeks.

Hjerto-Dahl likely won't remain an option for the Govan side for long, with Cardiff also looking to sign him.

The 20-year-old Norway youth international won't have a dearth of options to choose from after establishing himself as one of the most talented midfielders in the Eliteserien.
