Rangers' pursuit of Couhaib Driouech looks set to end unsuccessfully.

Derek McInnes' side are in the market for new attacking signings, after already adding Daisuke Yokota to their ranks.

The Ibrox side were favourites for the PSV star's signature, and were expected to bid around the £6million mark.

However, it appears that they are now set to miss out on the man, who notched 17 goal involvements in all competitions last season (nine goals, eight assists).

Europa League rivals Celta Vigo are the side that looks set to hijack the Driouech signing.

A report from the Daily Record on Friday claimed that the Galicia-based side are confident of winning the race for his signature over McInnes' side.

It states that Dutch sources believe the deal can be sorted quickly, and that the Eindhoven outfit are already looking for their replacement in Austria.

It is understood that PSV officials know that the player would prefer to move to Spain rather than Scotland, although the Moroccan has not ruled out the Gers yet.

Who could Rangers turn to instead?

Rangers have been linked with many wingers in the past few weeks, including the 24-year-old.

Jahnoah Markelo is one name that could be back on their radar, as Coventry are willing to loan him out this season.

Amario Cozier-Duberry is another contender, with Brighton believed to be willing to sell for over £5m.

Of course, they could gazump the Spanish side for Driouech, but if his preference is to move there, then it may be a struggle to convince him.

They are understood to have had a bid rejected for Frosinone winger Fares Ghedjemis, in the £8m region.

The Italian club are understood to be looking for more than £10m, if they are to sell the Algerian ace.

One thing is for sure, the Light Blues have to act quickly to secure a new man on the flanks as they are desperately lacking right now.
