What Fares Ghedjemi's agent has said about transfer after Rangers' approach
Fares Ghedjemi to Rangers is proving one of the most complex transfer sagas of the summer.
He is someone Derek McInnes is aware of, with the 55-year-old keen to add more pace to his flanks before the window shuts, as Djeidi Gassama's future remains uncertain for different reasons.
An opening-day 1-1 draw to Dundee United proved that the Govan side needed more additions in the final third, with Daisuke Yokota since signing from Hannover 96.
But the 26-year-old isn't the only forward still wanted at Ibrox.
Rangers would still like to sign Ghedjemi, but McInnes' side understand the hurdles in front of them, regarding other interested clubs.
What Fares Ghedjemi's agent has said
Rangers made a new approach to sign Ghedjemi earlier this week after their first proposal was turned down by Frosinone.
The Italian side rejected a new bid worth around £8million from the Light Blues.
It's said that the Serie B outfit want to keep the 23-year-old, as Rangers make just one of several interested clubs.
There is an Old Firm tussle going on for the Algerian, too, while interest from Monaco remains present.
Amid speculation of a move away, Ghedjemis' agent, Sofiane Mahieddine, has spoken out after being asked about interest from Celtic and Monaco specifically.
Mahieddine said, as quoted by Maghreb Foot: "I assure you that there is nothing official regarding Ghedjemis, and no official agreement has been reached with the clubs you mentioned (Celtic and Monaco).
"As soon as there is official information about Ghedjemis, your website will be the first to know about it."
With that said, nothing is anywhere near advanced for the winger to leave Italy, though it feels like a departure is inevitable.
But who he will join remains a mystery.
What is Rangers' financial limit for Ghedjemis?
Rangers have made a total of two official approaches for Ghedjemis, one being worth £6m, and the other £8m.
Whether or not the Bears will pay beyond the £8m figure is unknown, especially after signing Yokota.
McInnes understands that departures are still needed at Ibrox, perhaps even to fund further signings before the window shuts.
It could be that Rangers are holding off on Ghedjemis until they raise more money through sales, but that could end up working in their favour with neither Celtic nor Monaco advanced.
Though Rangers would surely limit themselves at £10m, as anything more may be seen as a major financial risk.
