Rangers target Thomas Galdames has spoken out on his future with Godoy Cruz ahead of a potential move to Ibrox this summer.

The Gers turned their attention to the versatile left-back joining several European sides in registering an interest in signing him [Gonzalo Conti].

Now the Chilean has spoken out on his future in Argentina, transcribed by Derek Clark on X, after his side's clash against Estudiantes on Tuesday (4 June).

He said: "Nothing is known yet, I have a contract until December. I always dreamed of playing in Europe. I want to take this market calmly and be able to leave something for the club. I am very grateful to Godoy Cruz."

Rangers have to wait to sign Thomas Galdames

The Chilean appears to fancy a stay in Argentina after pointing out that his current deal lasts until December.

This may provide Rangers with the chance to sign the defender on a free transfer or even a pre-agreement this summer.

With that being said, they may still be able to tempt Godoy Cruz into selling him this summer while they can get a transfer fee.

The Gers have been looking to sign a centre back ahead of the transfer window and after Jose Cordoba moved to Norwich City, the want is still there.

He is a physical presence that will certainly be beneficial in the Rangers back line, paired with his ability to play on both the left and in the centre.

The hope for Philippe Clement will be that he can sign Galdames and not be beaten to the punch again by another side this summer.

The Light Blues' summer could be set to be kick-started if they can convince the Chilean to move to Ibrox.
