Rangers are leaving no stone unturned as they look to back Derek McInnes in the transfer window.

The Gers have so far spent £7million in fees to sign Ross McCrorie and Ivor Pandur, while Lawrence Shankland, Dan Neil and Cammy Devlin have arrived on free transfers, with Ben Godfrey signing on loan.

Six additions have been made so far at the Light Blues and it looks like plenty more are to come.

Andrew Cavenagh raised a £16m share issue a few months back that has now been completed and the money is supposed to aid the recruitment drive at Ibrox.

The American owners have put their money where their mouth is since taking over the Glaswegian outfit and the Scottish manager now has the sort of funds he didn't have anywhere else before.

With the significant investment comes expectations from the boardroom and fans, which has now put the 55-year-old head coach in the firing line, possibly handing him an immediate ultimatum.

Only one acceptable outcome for Rangers return on investment

McInnes has publicly stated that bringing silverware back to the Gers is his immediate priority.

The Scottish manager has arguably put himself under massive pressure to deliver the William Hill Premiership title at Ibrox.

Combine the head coach's public statements with the Glaswegian outfit's expected investment in the squad this summer and anything but a top-place finish will surely be unacceptable next season.

In McCrorie, Shankland and Devlin, McInnes has three stars he has worked with before and there's no reason they shouldn't hit the ground running in Govan.

Derek McInnes risks Danny Rohl repeat at Ibrox

Rangers are clearly listening to McInnes, with John Souttar, who only recently signed a new contract, being shown the exit door.

Danny Rohl enjoyed similar backing from Cavenagh and the Gers hierarchy during his time at the club, but eventually faltered.

Some fans quickly turned on the German manager as he limped to a third-placed finish in the William Hill Premiership after bringing the Light Blues back into title contention.

If McInnes can't prove his mettle in Govan after the first few months of the season, supporters will likely feel no sympathy for him and demand a change in the dugout, especially considering the money that could be spent in the coming weeks.
