Corrie Ndaba is reportedly on Rangers' list of targets for Derek McInnes this summer.

The former Kilmarnock defender has been out of Scotland for the past year and could already be headed for a return.

Ndaba has a lengthy list of clubs to his name already, having played in Scotland, across the English football pyramid and now in Italy's top flight.

After earning a move to Lecce last summer, the left-back was then rewarded with his first call-up for Ireland, making his debut against Qatar in May.

However, the defender hasn't had much success with Lecce due to a lack of first-team starts.

Now, Rangers could capitalise on his seemingly failed move and bring him back to Scotland for McInnes.

The issues Corrie Ndaba could fix for Derek McInnes as transfer wanted

Rangers are currently short of defenders, and there is a possibility that others could leave Ibrox, too.

However, Ndaba would be fixing an issue in two positions if he were to come back to the Scottish Premiership and sign for the Bears.

According to the Daily Record on Friday, Rangers are "keen" on bringing the 26-year-old to Govan.

French side Strasbourg are said to be interested, while Turkish outfit Goztepe are also looking into the possibility of signing the Irish international from Lecce.

Ndaba's versatility would offer McInnes cover at centre-back and left-back, two positions which have been described as a "problem" right now due to the lack of depth.

He's a physical defender, standing at 6,2" tall, and someone who knows the Scottish top flight well.

Nasser Djiga and Derek Cornelius returned to their respective parent clubs this summer, while Jayden Meghoma will not be returning to Ibrox after the left-back's loan from Brentford expired.

Ndaba would most likely be seen as a rotational option rather than a starting one for McInnes, who needs more depth right now.

How Rangers may have just two centre-backs to start the season

Ben Godfrey will be used by McInnes this season, while Clinton Nsiala's role remains unclear.

There is a possibility that the two could be the Gers' only options at the centre of defence by the time the season starts, which stresses the importance of signing someone like Ndaba.

Ibrox News has gathered information that John Souttar is likely to leave Rangers, with Sheffield United and Leicester City interested.

Emmanuel Fernandez has also been linked with a big-money exit after his impressive debut season with Rangers.

If both were to leave, Nsiala and Godfrey would be the only two senior options left at centre-back for McInnes, which shows why someone like Ndaba is needed.
