Conor Coady has been a mainstay in the Premier League since he rose to fame at Wolves.

The 32-year-old captained the side to Premier League and Europa League football.

Here, he also became an England international, winning 10 caps and he was part of the squad at the 2022 World Cup squad.

Currently, Coady plays for Leicester City, who have just been relegated from the Premier League.

However, he could now reunite with former Wolves sporting director Kevin Thelwell at Ibrox.

Rangers consider move for Conor Coady amid potential Robin Propper departure

Conceding goals was a big problem at Rangers throughout the 2024/25 Scottish Premiership campaign.

The Gers leaked 41 goals in the division, a real issue for Russell Martin if he is to challenge Celtic next season.

Now, according to journalist Joshua Barrie via The Rangers Review (6 June), Propper is expected to depart Rangers, with Martin considering a move for Coady.

It is unknown how much Coady would cost, but with his contract up in 2026, he could be a bargain.

Whereas, FC Twente are interested in re-signing Propper after a poor year at Ibrox.

Alongside Coady, Martin is aiming to sign four more first-team players, with two expected to come in before Rangers’ Champions League qualifiers in July.

Coady would be an excellent first signing for Martin

The one thing Rangers have lacked in recent years is leadership. The Gers have struggled in big moments, with few players stepping up.

This is where Coady thrives, with the defender being a born leader and an excellent face in the dressing room.

If Rangers are going to end Celtic’s dominance, they need players like the 32-year-old at Ibrox who has experience at the international level and in the Premier League.

With his contract expiring in 2026, he would likely cost little and could be an excellent signing for the Gers both on and off the pitch.
