Rangers 'might live to regret' not beating Celtic to Luis Palma signing - Andy Halliday

Andy Halliday says Rangers "might life to regret" not beating rivals Celtic to the signing of winger Luis Palma in the summer transfer window.

The Honduras attacker was touted as a target for Rangers earlier this year, only to join Celtic in August for a reported £3.5million [Sky Sports].

Palma has scored four goals and assisted a further five in his first eight Scottish Premiership appearances.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, via the Daily Record [13 November], Hearts player Halliday hailed the quality of Palma.

"I've said a few times Rangers might live to regret not getting him over the line during the summer," he said.

"I think we're starting to see why. I think he's shown real, real quality."

Finding their feet

Just how interested Rangers were in signing Palma during the summer is unknown.

Then-manager Michael Beale said there was an opportunity to sign the winger on loan from Aris Thessaloniki with an option to buy, but the Gers were not keen.

It may well have been that the £3.5m price tag - even if it was to be paid a year down the line - put the Light Blues off making a move.

That puts Palma in a similar price range as Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers, and a few million below the fee paid for Danilo.

There is no denying that the Honduran has made a big impact in his short time in Scotland, but Rangers' attackers are also now starting to find their feet.

Rather than wonder what might have been, supporters can now feel confident that Beale can get the absolute most out of those aforementioned Gers newbies.

If that proves the case, it may well be that it is Palma who lives to regret his career choice.
