Getafe appear to be closing in on the transfer of Fiorentina winger Josip Brekalo ahead of Rangers, according to the Daily Record.

The news outlet cite Croatian publication 24 Sata on 30 August who claim that the 26-year-old appears to be on his way to the La Liga side.

The Croatia international would have passed a medical at Ibrox if needed but he will not be moving to Glasgow on deadline day.

Rangers need to quickly switch focus and work on other transfers

Gers' interest in Brekalo, now seemingly heading to Getafe, underscores the need for swift adaptation in their transfer strategy.

With the transfer window closing, Rangers cannot afford to linger on missed opportunities.

The club's pursuit of the Croatian was likely aimed at bolstering their attacking options, particularly on the wings, where depth and quality are crucial for competing on multiple fronts.

Now, with Brekalo off the table, the Scottish side must pivot quickly to identify and secure alternative targets who can fulfil similar roles or even offer different tactical advantages.

This urgency is not just about filling positions but about ensuring the squad has the necessary depth and competition for places, which is vital for maintaining performance levels throughout a gruelling season.

Moreover, the fluidity of the transfer market means that other clubs are also in the hunt, making it imperative for the club to act decisively to avoid being left short-handed or with less desirable options as the deadline approaches.
