Rangers held talks in recent days over the potential transfer of Jhon Arias who's wanted by West Ham, Crystal Palace and Leicester City, according to RTI Esporte.

The South American news outlet reported on 13 June that the Colombia international did not fancy a move to Ibrox.

It's also understood that Fluminense are looking out for a fee in the region of £12.6million for the 26-year-old winger this summer.

Rangers will not be able to afford the transfer of Jhon Arias

The £12.6million price tag could be a significant obstacle for the Scottish club.

Arias has shown impressive form in Brazil, scoring nine goals and providing 13 assists this season.

His ability to play on either wing and his skill in tight spaces make him an attractive prospect for Gers.

However, the financial aspect of the deal is likely to be a major hurdle for the Scottish Premiership side.

Rangers have a history of signing players from South America and Arias could potentially be a replacement for the loanee Abdallah Sima, who is set to return to Brighton and Hove Albion and may not re-sign.

The Colombian's versatility and attacking prowess would certainly enhance Rangers' squad.

The club's financial situation, as well as the competitive interest from clubs in England and Spain, make it unlikely that Gers will be able to secure Arias' signature even if he wanted the move.
