Rangers told to cash in on Youssef Chermiti as Besiktas prepare to throw 'kitchen sink' at transfer

Youssef Chermiti's future at Rangers remains extremely uncertain.

The 49ers have set their asking price for the 22-year-old, who could leave Ibrox 12 months on from joining the Bears.

Derek McInnes started the Portuguese man up top in the defeat to Jagiellonia Bialystok on Thursday, with his performance once again coming under the microscope.

The Light Blues paid an initial £8million when signing Chermiti from Everton last summer, and a possible departure would see the club receive a healthy profit.

The arrival of Lawrence Shankland has raised further questions, as it's still unclear what McInnes' preferred system and players are in attack.

Chermiti could yet leave Rangers, with noise over a move to Besiktas refusing to go away.

Besiktas are one of four clubs interested in Chermiti this summer, with the likes of Galatasaray, PSV and Porto all keen.

It's said that Andrew Cavenagh and Co. have slapped an ultimate price tag of £25m on the striker, though it remains to be seen if Rangers would see him for a cheaper up-front fee that includes other add-ons.

He played the full game in the Gers' loss to Jagiellonia in Poland, and really should have scored, but had his blushes spared after Tuur Rommens' cross ricocheted in off a defender for an own goal.

While speaking for the Daily Record, Jackson explained how he thought Chermiti's performance was poor, and told Rangers what to do amid interest from Turkey.

Jackson said: "There is a suggestion that Besiktas might be prepared to throw the kitchen sink to get Chermiti.

"We are talking big numbers, north of £20m. If that’s the case, Rangers should bite their hand off."

Jackson suggested that Chermiti sometimes looks too lazy and uninterested, which would explain why a £20m sale could be a good one.

What would Rangers do if Chermiti was sold?

Rangers have added nine new faces to their ranks so far this summer, and are looking at another winger for McInnes.

Though no offer has come in for Chermiti yet, many Gers fans would wonder what would happen if he was sold for a fee in excess of £20m.

The truth is that Rangers have done most of their business this summer, and even if the likes of Nicolas Raskin are sold, it's not guaranteed that he will be replaced.

The same goes for Chermiti, with Bojan Miovski, Ryan Naderi and Shankland all on the books.

It could be that the funds are saved for a transfer window later down the line.
