Kenny Miller has "no doubt" that Rangers goalkeeper Jack Butland will attract interest from other clubs in the summer transfer window.

Butland's error late on proved costly in Saturday's (25 May) Scottish Cup final defeat to Celtic at Hampden Park.

However, the Englishman has otherwise been superb in his maiden campaign at Ibrox, having arrived as a free agent last summer.

Miller believes that, much like with Celtic needing a replacement for Joe Hart, the Gers could have a big void to fill over the next few months.

"There's no doubt that Jack Butland will have suitors," he said on BBC Sportscene [25 May, 39m 37s].

"It could be that both sides of the Old Firm are looking for a number one over the course of the summer.

"It's such an important position. He's been a class act since he came up here last summer."

Rangers bracing themselves for Jack Butland transfer interest

Everyone connected with Rangers will be desperate to see Butland stay on. The keeper has made a couple of errors, but has otherwise been superb.

Bringing in the 31-year-old last summer was considered very smart business at the time, but nobody expected him to be as solid as he has been.

You have to imagine that teams south of the border will be taking notice, and the Light Blues will have a big decision to make if a sizeable offer is made.

Philippe Clement has plenty on his plate at Rangers

Unless it is a serious sum, though, it makes no sense to cash in for a large profit. After all, finding a replacement would likely set the club back millions.

Philippe Clement has enough on his plate without having to target a new number one. Hopefully no bids are forthcoming, and if they are then they must be knocked back unless the club's own valuation is exceeded.
