Rangers to demand record fee for Youssef Chermiti as Galatasaray want striker
Rangers could be set for a battle to keep hold of Youssef Chermiti as interest from Turkey continues to emerge.
The Portuguese striker arrived in Glasgow in the summer of 2025, and his first spell in Scotland was quite successful.
After being labelled as a flop for Everton, there was plenty of pressure on the 22-year-old's shoulders. However, he took that in his stride, netting 15 goals in all competitions.
Chermiti's success for Rangers has led to interest from Besiktas, but now fellow Turkish side Galatasaray are chasing the number nine.
However, if Chermiti is sold, it appears it would take a substantial transfer fee for the 49ers to sanction a sale.
How much would Rangers sell Youssef Chermiti for?
Losing Chermiti is the last thing that Rangers will want despite the arrival of Lawrence Shankland.
The Gers have two of the best strikers in Scotland with both ending the season in the top five goalscorers of the Scottish Premiership.
However, according to Turkish journalist Sergen Dag, Chermiti is "one of the names" on Galatasaray's list ahead of the summer transfer window, joining rivals Besiktas in the chase.
The journalist also shares that Rangers would be expecting a fee in the region of £25million, which would be a record sale for the Ibrox outfit.
Previously, this was held by Calvin Bassey, who was sold to Ajax for £19.6m in 2022.
With the price tags being mooted, the Gers would certainly have a hard time turning down any advances.
While keeping Chermiti is key, manager Danny Rohl is well-stocked in that area with Shankland, Ryan Naderi and Bojan Miovski contracted in G51.
Where would Chermiti rank amid Scotland's record sales?
Not only would Chermiti be a record sale for Rangers, but he would be coming close to the all-time Scottish Premiership sale.
That title is currently held by Matt O'Riley who was sold by Celtic for £25m, the same price mooted for Chermiti; however, his deal included £5m worth of add-ons.
Additionally, Celtic winger Jota was sold to Al-Ittihad in 2023 for £25m as well, so Chermiti would come in as the joint-second record sale in the history of the Scottish Premiership.
Galatasary do have plenty of other targets, including Colombian Jhon Duran, so for now, it may be a waiting game for Rangers as to whether that record bid falls into their lap
If it does, they will have a very tough decision on their hands to make, and it will be interesting to see which way they go with it.
