Rangers to bite hand off for Rabbi Matondo offers, he's not consistent enough

Rangers should jump at the chance to offload Rabbi Matondo if offers arrive, according to Fraser Wilson.

The club still have plenty of work to do as the time ticks down towards Friday's transfer deadline in Scotland, which finishes 30 minutes after that of England.

Matondo has been strongly linked with a switch to Blackburn Rovers, with Philippe Clement admitting the club must sell before they can reinvest.

Wilson said in the Daily Record [24 August]: "Rangers should bite the hand off anyone willing to shell out for Matondo.

"He’s shown glimpses of quality but like too many at Ibrox the consistency has been nowhere near enough."

After Blackburn boss John Eustace confirmed Matondo is a target, Rangers fans may breathe a little easier with some more faith in a deal being struck and crucial reinforcements being brought in.

The "one-in, one-out" policy which has emerged at Ibrox is difficult when Clement and the club are struggling to sell players, but a potential swap deal has been earmarked for Lewis Travis to come in the other direction [Scottish Sun, 23 August].

The winger's pay packet is also a stumbling block, with it projected that over £100,000 in wages are being spent on he, Todd Cantwell, Ianis Hagi and Ben Davies [Rangers Review, 23 August].

As seen there, Matondo is not the only player the Gers are trying to shift, with Hagi in particular a player whose wages will drastically increase with just one more first-team appearance.

The club are attempting to get the balance right and afford themselves as much time as possible to avert their attention to arrivals - but some must first depart, and that's proving easier said than done.
