Rangers are set to confirm the signing of Djeidi Gassama, with a deal now on the verge of being announced.

Gassama emerged as a target for the Gers in recent weeks as the financial situation at Sheffield Wednesday meant quick sales were needed.

Rangers are actively strengthening their squad in the transfer market, and Gassama is set to be one of several attacking additions.

With a deal mooted over the last week, fans can now be excited as the winger has signed his contract at Ibrox, with an unveiling imminent.

Gassama signs Rangers contract

Gassama is now officially a Rangers player, and has signed his contract after agreeing a deal to trade the Championship for a move to Scotland.

Reporter Mark Hendry has now reported via his personal Substack (July 14) that the transfer has been sealed, with all the paperwork signed off, and the official announcement could come later on Monday, possibly in the evening.

The Gers need more attacking players, but Gassama will arrive with pedigree in the Championship, and would offer speed and goal threat to the front line.

The winger was outstanding in the English second division last season, scoring seven times in a struggling team, and is an exciting young signing ready to make an instant impact.

Rangers adding speed in attack

Gassama is an exciting signing simply for the fact that he will bring explosive speed to the front line, which Rangers sometimes lacked last season.

He may not be the only attacker to arrive at Ibrox this summer, with Jesurun Rak-Sakyi also linked with a move, to build what could become a deadly front line.

Rangers will need to find the right striker to lead the line with their new wingers, though, as Cyriel Dessers and Hamza Igamane could both depart the club this summer.

It has been a positive window for Russell Martin so far, who will aim to add more quality to prepare Rangers for their upcoming Champions League qualifiers at the end of July.
