Rangers have decided to pay whatever it takes to sign Mohammed Diomande from FC Nordsjaelland, according to Tipsbladet.

As reported online by the Dutch news outlet (24 January), the Gers have agreed to pay a fee of £5.7million to sign the 22-year-old.

In addition to this fee, a sell-on clause has been inserted in the deal, which will see FC Nordsjaelland receive a percentage of any profit Rangers generate on the midfielder via a future sale.

Diomande has started 12 games in the Superliga this season, assisting three goals for his side who sit fifth in the division.

The fact that Rangers are willing to do whatever is needed to be done to get this deal across the line says a lot about how much belief they have in the player.

Philippe Clement will be delighted that he is being backed during the January transfer window with a fee of close to £6million a large sum of money for the club to spend at this point of the season.

Diomande is a central midfielder who can also play further forward, and has an eye for goal, having scored 13 times while also providing 14 assists in 111 appearances for FC Nordsjaelland.

Yet to make his debut for the Ivory Coast national team, the youngster will hope that this move can propel his career, while Clement will hope he can help propel Rangers above Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, with the Belgian's side five points behind the league leaders with a game in hand.

New additions will be crucial in the title race, and this is certainly a signal of intent from the club's ownership.
