Rangers: Russell Martin in for rude awakening if he thinks 49ers will negotiate Leicester transfers
Ex-Rangers boss Russell Martin has somehow landed himself another job with high responsibility after being appointed the new head coach of Leicester City.
After appointing Martin in June, the Gers quickly realised they had made a mistake, parting ways with the Scot in October.
The 40-year-old led the Bears to one of their worst starts in history, both in the league and domestically, and arguably ruined their season before Danny Rohl was hired
Fast forward a few months, and Rohl ended up failing the Light Blues in the title race and is now close to finalising his own exit from Ibrox.
Derek McInnes is now set to take charge, just after Leicester made the possibly costly decision to appoint Martin as their new man ahead of a push to gain promotion back to the EFL Championship.
However, if the former Gers boss thinks he has a chance of stealing any players from Ibrox, he'd better think again.
The 49ers will not pick up phone to anyone associated with Russell Martin
Though Martin made it out as though he hated most players at Rangers, he did seem to have an obsession with a couple of individuals.
With that said, Leicester will be in the market to help Martin ahead of a promotion push, and he may even look to some of his former Rangers players.
Martin has been out of the public eye for a while, so when he returns to press-conference duties, he'll no doubt get his story out about his time with the Bears.
It would be no surprise to see him throw shade on the club, and that, partnered with the disaster he contributed to last season, should be why the 49ers don't engage, if the Foxes want to sign some of their players this summer.
Who would Martin try and sign?
Martin was said to be planning a raid on Rangers already, with sports scientist Rhys Owen an admired figure by the former Southampton boss.
As far as players go, Martin seemed to start Bojan Mivoski most of the time, and the same can be seen for John Souttar.
If the Rangers duo were to leave this summer, not many would bat an eyelid, but there would certainly be some noise if Martin tried to sign either of them.
The 49ers and Andrew Cavenagh would likely laugh in his face and move on without a care in the world.
