Rangers ready to brace as Emmanuel Fernandez transfer wanted in Europe
Rangers are in the midst of an ongoing reset under Derek McInnes.
The Gers are looking to end what will be a six-year wait for the Scottish Premiership title next season, as they recover from their recent slip.
Last term, the Govan side went into the final five looking to make a statement and beat Hearts and Celtic to the title, before they endured a four-match losing run.
Now, McInnes is in charge at Ibrox, following the abrupt departure of Danny Rohl.
In the early days of pre-season, the former midfielder will be gathering all the information he can as he watches his new squad - making big decisions regarding incomings and outgoings.
With this in mind, he could have to make a decision regarding Emmanuel Fernandez, who is attracting interest from the continent.
Rangers left with big decision as Emmanuel Fernandez attracts interest
As per French outlet Ouest-France, Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennais are looking to bring in a central defender this summer, with Fernandez one of three targets.
Toulouse centre-back Charlie Creswell is said to be the main target, though the price tag of above £20million is said to be putting Rennes off.
Wolves' Yerson Mosquera is also being considered, with the Midlanders preparing for a season of second tier football.
Finally, Gers defender Fernandez is also said to be an option for the Breton club.
The Nigerian international arrived from Peterborough last summer, enduring a hit and miss season in Glasgow, but the potential is most certainly there.
What Rangers will take from Rennes interest
When it comes to talent developers, there are not many clubs out there who can match Rennes.
Having brought through Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele, Eduardo Camavinga and more, their academy is one of the best in the world.
At the same time, Rennes have a real eye for talent coming from abroad, with the likes of Raphinha and Jeremy Doku making big money moves to the Premier League off the back of spells at Roazhon Park.
For Rangers, this is a sign that they must pay attention to.
As should be the case by now, if Rennes see something in one of your players, then you should too, emphasising how important Fernandez could be at Ibrox in the coming years.
