Rangers players react to Andreas Skov Olsen's latest transfer after Ibrox failure

Andreas Skov Olsen left Rangers at the end of last season as nothing short of a failure.

The Denmark international arrived at Ibrox on loan from Wolfsburg in January, but never hit the heights expected.

With Champions League, Bundesliga and international experience behind him, it never worked out under Danny Rohl.

So much so, that Skov Olsen's permanent option was left behind.

Now, Rangers are under the control of Derek McInnes, who once again wants to add new wingers to his squad.

It's over to Andrew Cavenagh and his team to deliver that, while Skov Olsen has already found his next move.

Andreas Skov Olsen becomes journeyman already

Ibrox News heavily covered information that Skov Olsen's buy option at Rangers was £8.6million.

That wasn't taken, and for good reason, with money being spent around the squad so far this summer.

Instead, Skov Olsen has now signed for Istanbul Basaksehir, on another initial loan deal in Turkiye.

Interestingly, the buy option is less than half of what Rangers' was, sitting at £4.2m, via Florian Plettenberg on X.

Skov Olsen has already been on social media to celebrate his latest switch, as he tries to reignite his career away from Germany again.

Even if he didn't leave a lasting impression with the fans, the same can't be said with the squad of players.

Tochi Chukwuani was one of the first to respond on Instagram, given their country links, with several red hearts.

Nedim Bajrami and Tuur Rommens also left comments wishing him the best at his new club.

On top of that, Djeidi Gassama, Oliver Antman, Emmanuel Fernandez and Ryan Naderi all also liked Skov Olsen's post.

While Rangers prepare for their Scottish Premiership opener with Dundee United at Tannadice on Friday, it's a new era of sorts.

McInnes is clearing the decks after welcoming seven new faces, soon to be eight with Olwethu Makhanya.

Skov Olsen was left behind as soon as last season finished, but it's clear that a couple of new wingers will be welcomed in Govan.

Let's see if they can do what the Danish star couldn't and bring success back to Ibrox.
