Rangers are set to miss out on a move for Hoffenheim defender Stanley Nsoki in this transfer window, according to the Daily Record.

Scott Burns' round-up [28 August] of the state of play with incomings and outgoings at Ibrox noted the claim that Nsoki, 25, will instead join Lille in France.

Talks over a potential loan deal had taken place earlier this summer between the Gers and Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim [L'Equipe, 27 August], but Philippe Clement looks like losing out on his man.

Rangers miss out on late deal for Stanley Nsoki

Rangers have had a few bitter pills to swallow in this transfer window, and Nsoki is the latest.

Clement, John Bennett and Nils Koppen, however, know they have no time to dwell and must look to finalise shaping the Gers' squad before the deadline on Friday night.

There remains plenty of work to be done, with valuable recruitment time being lost due to the club's inability until now to get surplus players off the books.

It now looks as if there are finally developments in place, with Scott Wright and Todd Cantwell both expected to leave Glasgow this week, enabling Clement to secure some more additions.

Ben Davies' loan was the move which allowed the approach for Nsoki, but it appears now the former PSG defender has opted to return to his native France.
