Aberdeen ace Connor Barron is expected to decide on his future next week amid transfer interest from Rangers, according to the Daily Record.

The newspaper reported via its website [13 June] that the 21-year-old has offers on the table from England, Italy and Scotland, with Swansea City, Cardiff City, Plymouth Argyle and Stoke City interested.

Hellas Verona and Bologna are also said to be keeping tabs, with any suitors outside of Scotland needing to pay a £500,000 training compensation. Rangers would have to agree a fee to avoid a tribunal, however.

Will Rangers seal a transfer for Connor Barron this summer?

The 21-year-old midfielder has proven himself at Aberdeen, prompting several clubs to sit up and take notice.

Barron has made 76 first-team appearances since making his debut in December 2021 and has been a key figure in Peter Leven's starting XI since his appointment in March.

With Ryan Jack and John Lundstram's exits confirmed already, Philippe Clement must ensure he makes the correct additions to his squad, with Nico Raskin and Mohamed Diomande requiring reinforcements.

Lundstram in particular was a key part of the Gers' squad this season, protecting the back four as the likes of Cyriel Dessers, Tom Lawrence, Todd Cantwell, Ross McCausland and Abdallah Sima got the goals.

Barron would add a lot of much-needed stability to the midfield, which Clement will be hoping to address after the club let go of multiple players.

While the youngster is not known for his goal involvements, notching one goal and three assists in the league, Clement will not be unduly worried about that aspect of his game.

Rangers Philippe Clement
Philippe Clement has not been shy to splash the cash at Rangers so far this summer.

The Gers have already confirmed the re-signing of Oscar Cortes from Lens while it seems they are working on a deal to bring Sima back to Ibrox this summer.

Hearts' Lawrence Shankland is another name from the Scottish Premiership being linked with a Rangers move, though it remains to be seen whether that comes to fruition.
