Rangers have set their sights on Fiorentina winger Josip Brekalo ahead of the transfer window closing, according to Viola News.

The reliable online news source reported on Tuesday (20 August) that Brekalo has emerged as a target for the Gers.

However, negotiations between the two clubs are not yet underway, with the interest still at an early stage ahead of the 30 August deadline.

The report adds that Jonathan Ikone is another Fiorentina player likely to be on the way out, with Leicester City and Wolves have made enquiries.

Rangers need to speed up transfer business

The Gers could do with adding one or two more players to their squad before the transfer window closes for business in nine days' time.

Philippe Clement will have a few positions in mind that need strengthening, and bringing in another player in the wide area is one of them.

Brekalo certainly has plenty of experience of top-level football, having played close to 150 times in Bundesliga and 49 times in Serie A.

The Croatia international spent last season on loan at Hajduk Split and it does appear his career is on the wane, with Fiorentina open to a sale.

Given he is still just 26, though, Ibrox could prove a perfect platform for the left-sided player to kickstart his career at what is still a young age.
