Rangers employee pens emotional farewell as 11-year spell comes to an end
Rangers are continuing with massive changes behind the scenes at Ibrox.
There has already been plenty of change throughout the G51 outfit this summer.
Danny Rohl left the Gers for RB Salzburg with Derek McInnes coming in to take over as manager.
With McInnes' arrival, it brought plenty of backroom changes with Allan McGregor's return one of the many new additions.
However, at youth level, more changes look to be on the way for the Glasgow outfit at Auchenhowie.
A key figure has announced that he will be moving on from Rangers after more than a decade of service.
Who has departed from Rangers?
Scott Edgar, who was the Senior Soccer Academies Executive at Rangers has shared that he will be leaving.
Edgar has spent the last 11 years in Govan, where he has helped shape Rangers' Soccer Academies programme.
He stated on X: "After 11 incredible years, I have made the difficult decision to move on from Rangers Football Club this August.
"The club has shaped both my career and the person I have become. I am grateful for every opportunity and friendship made along the way. Thank you, Rangers."
In his role, Edgar would have been working with councils, schools, charities and commercial partners to secure funding and develop sustainable initiatives.
Losing someone who has spent the amount of time Edgar has at Rangers will undoubtedly be a significant loss.
And the Gers will certainly be looking for a way to fill the void of what will be missing, especially with a system that has borne fruit in the past.
The Soccer Academies have allowed kids aged from five to 15 to learn and play the Rangers way.
Are the Rangers Soccer Academies successful?
The Rangers Soccer Academies have seen success stories over the years.
Leon King, who has now left Ibrox, first emerged on the Bears' radar after attending one of the academies at the age of five.
As shared by Rangers, King said about the soccer academies: "It was amazing, and for a wee boy at that age, it was such a good opportunity and a chance to go and show Rangers what you could do."
Now, with Edgar's departure, there are certainly set to be some changes ringing through as the Bears look to create more success stories.
King's trajectory, while not ultimately working out at Ibrox, will be the example they look to follow.
The defender left Rangers as a league champion having been part of the 2020-2021 first team under Steven Gerrard.
