Rangers are keen on defenders in January and there is a deal to be done for Norwich City's Grant Hanley, according to the Daily Record.

The news outlet reported on 7 January that Scotland International would bring much-needed leadership to the backline if that was something that Philippe Clement wanted.

With injuries to Neraysho Kasanwirjo and John Souttar, Gers are expected to dip into the winter market to bring in reinforcements.

However, if Clement is looking for a quick fix, then the Norwich City centre-back is likely to provide that.

He's also a Gers academy product and it would be an easier sell to Gers fans as to why the club are signing someone on the wrong side of 30.

Also, with his deal at Norwich running out in the summer, the EFL Championship side may be tempted to cash in on his services in January.

He has barely featured for the club this season and the hierarchy are unlikely to stand in the way of a potential transfer in the coming weeks.

It remains to be seen how high Hanley is on Koppen's priority list and whether or not Clement is open to working with him.
