Rangers can repeat Findlay Curtis trick amid Bailey Rice loan latest
Rangers could be looking for deja vu amid the latest on Bailey Rice's future.
The Gers seen the impact that a loan move can have on their young talents, with Findlay Curtis' temporary switch to Kilmarnock earning him a place on Scotland's World Cup squad.
Ahead of next season, Curtis will undoubtedly be vying for a more senior role under Derek McInnes, but Rice may have to bide his time.
The Gers secured the future of the highly-rated midfielder with the 19-year-old penning a new contract.
However, his immediate future looks to be away from Ibrox amid details of a loan away emerging.
And that could ultimately be the best decision made for all parties during the summer transfer window.
Where is Bailey Rice going on loan?
Rangers looked to have seen the success they had with Curtis and want Rice to do the same.
The midfielder looks to be following Curtis' path and heading to Kilmarnock on loan for next season.
That is according to the Daily Record, who state that McInnes has "given the green light" over the loan move.
Rice had an agreement with Danny Rohl to head out on loan to Killie, but with the German departing, that could have endangered the move.
But McInnes has decided to honour the previous agreement his predeccesor had with the player.
Ultimately, Rangers could end up benefitting most from the move. Rice will get regular first-team minutes - something he desperately needs.
Meanwhile, McInnes will be able to keep an eye on things from afar as he watches his developments.
Rice would then return next season vying for a regular first-team role as Curtis is expected to do upon the conclusion of his holiday post-World Cup.
Why Rice is desperate to join Kilmarnock
While the success of Curtis will be playing on his mind, there may be another reason Rice wants to join Killie.
Former Rangers coaches Neil McCann and Billy Dodds are at Rugby Park, and Rice has previously worked under them.
He will be hoping that familair faces could unlock his best qualities as they already have a deeper understanding than most over what he has to offer.
Similarly, Rice may already know what is to be expected of him heading into the Scottish Premiership season.
If the loan is completed as expected, Rice would not have long to wait for his first competitive game.
Kilmarnock are set to face Raith Rovers in the group stage of the Scottish League cup on 14 July.
