Rangers failed in a late attempt to sign Omari Forson from Monza, according to Matteo Moretto.

The Italian journalist reported via X on 6 February that on the final days of the window the Gers made an approach for the 20-year-old.

The Serie A outfit rejected that approach for the winger, who only moved to Italy last summer after leaving Manchester United on a free transfer.

Rangers failed in late swoop for Omari Forson

It is a surprise that the Govan club were looking to conduct business after making just two signings during the winter, with Lyall Cameron not joining until the summer.

The Gers took up a late interest in the ex-England under-19 international who has played his football in Italy since July 2024.

In that time, the forward has made just seven appearances and is yet to provide a goal or an assist in the league or cup so far this campaign.

As a result, it wouldn't come as a surprise if the Italian side looked to cash in on Forson, especially when the Light Blues made their interest known late in the window.

It appears that Monza weren't willing to part ways with their former Red Devils youngster who may have more of an impact as the season goes on.

If this isn't the case, Philippe Clement's side could look to make a fresh approach for the winger in the summer which may be more likely to be accepted.
