Rangers and Celtic are both interested in signing St Johnstone sensation Callan Hamill, according to Jordan Campbell.

Writing on his personal X account (1 July), The Athletic journalist reports that the 15-year-old defender is currently training with Arsenal with a view to a move next summer when he turns 16.

St Johnstone have allowed him to experience the environment in London, but with a cross-border move not possible until 2025 Ranger and Celtic could look to move ahead of the Gunners in the race by trying to bring him in sooner.

Rangers continue with Ibrox rebuild for the future

The future of Rangers is bright, with plenty of talent in the academy and plenty of quality there is no reason for a fan not to feel the same way.

After losing Zeb Jacobs as the Academy Director [1908, 25 April] there were some concerns that the club could suffer until he was replaced, but clearly that isn't the case.

There is a structure in place that allows the club to be able to identify the top young talents around and work towards bringing them in, and they're more than attractive enough to compete with the likes of Celtic and Arsenal.

Hamill is a 15-year-old defender who represents Scotland at youth level as a right-back, but is also capable of playing at centre-back.

A compensation fee would need to be agreed, but Rangers have the advantage over Arsenal in this race and they now must find a way to convince him to join ahead of Celtic to continue the pipeline of top talent coming out of Ibrox.
