Scott Wright has rival transfer interest from abroad as the Rangers attacker nears a move away from the club, according to Darren Witcoop.

The former Reach journalist reported via X on 23 July that the Scottish winger is "due to leave" Ibrox and is wanted "overseas".

There have been strong links to Sheffield Wednesday this summer [Daily Record, 6 July], and the Owls are one of the clubs said to have made an enquiry along with Derby and Preston North End.

Rangers exodus on cards as Ianis Hagi, James Tavernier and Connor Goldson could go

Aside from an excellent display as Rangers went out of the Europa League against Benfica last season, Wright has proven to be a difference-maker far too infrequently.

Last summer seemed a sensible time for him to move on and there has been little evidence to the contrary over the past year even if a departure to Turkey wasn't for him.

He seems to have options during the current window so the hope must be that interest turns into offers so that Philippe Clement can recoup something for a peripheral player.

The same applies to Ianis Hagi who is reported to have agreed personal terms on a move to former side Fiorentina [SportpeSure , 21 July] so a fee for him would also be very helpful.

James Tavernier doesn't seem to have the same reluctance to move to Turkey as he is believed to be close to joining Borna Barisic and John Lundstram at Trabzonspor [The 4th Official, 20 July].

And activity appears to have sparked on a departure for Connor Goldson as well amid links to an Aris Limassol move [This Is Mappa, 21 July] so it looks like space is finally set to be made for new incoming signings.
