AZ Alkmaar will have to shell out an "uncommon" amount of funds weekly if they are to sign Rangers attacker Sam Lammers, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper reported via its print edition on 9 July that the Dutch side will have to match his £20k-a-week wages and a £2.5million transfer fee to the Ibrox club.

Despite him shining on loan at FC Utrecht last season, they will not be pursuing his services this summer after signing Noah Ohio.

Rangers appear to have made their mind up to sell Sam Lammers

Gers seem to have made a definitive decision to sell Lammers, as evidenced by their exclusion of him from the pre-season training camp, per Rangers Review.

This move indicates that Philippe Clement does not see Lammers as part of the club's future plans.

The decision to sell the 27-year-old suggests that the Ibrox outfit are keen to recoup the money they invested in him when they signed him from Atalanta last summer.

Lammers' loan spell at FC Utrecht last season, where he scored 11 goals, showcased his potential and ability to perform in the Eredivisie.

However, despite his success in the Netherlands, he struggled in Scotland and Clement's seen enough to make a definite judgement.

This could be due to a number of factors, including the need to balance the squad, financial considerations, or a simple lack of fit within the Belgian's tactical setup.

Their stance on Lammers seems clear as day as they are looking to sell him and are not willing to compromise on their asking price.

This firm position could be a strategic move to ensure they receive a fair return on their investment.
