Rangers manager Philippe Clement believes Hamza Igamane can have a real impact in the Scottish Premiership, according to the Scottish Sun.

The outlet reported on its website on Sunday (16 June) that the Light Blues have launched a £1.5million transfer push for the Moroccan striker who currently plays for FAR Rabat in the top division.

Clement is looking to close the gap to Celtic at the top of the Premiership table by rebuilding his side at Ibrox this summer and believes the 21-year-old is well-suited to hit the ground running in Glasgow.

Will Rangers and Philippe Clement sign Hamza Igamane in summer transfer window at Ibrox?

Anyone who watched Rangers last season will know that the Light Blues desperately needed a new number nine this summer if they had any chance of closing the gap to Celtic and getting their hands on the title.

Although Cyriel Dessers showed signs of improvement as the season wore on, the Nigerian forward doesn't possess the clinical edge that allows a striker to score week in and week out, especially in Old Firm derbies.

He will still have a role to play under Clement next season, but he is unlikely to start each and every game with Igamane set to arrive and Danilo more than likely back in contention following his serious injury last season.

Philippe Clement will be keen for Rangers to continue spending this summer.

With Abdallah Sima's future also up in the air following the conclusion of his loan spell, reinforcements were always going to be necessary and in the 21-year-old they seem to have discovered an exciting talent.

Hopefully, Rangers will get the deal done sooner rather than later and then it will just be down to Igamane to show that he has what it takes to hit the ground running north of the border and help the Gers finally break Celtic's dominance.
