Rangers continue to be in pursuit of Sheffield United striker Tyrese Campbell but Philippe Clement's priorities lie elsewhere, according to the Daily Record.

The news outlet reported on 8 August that the Belgian's No.1 transfer priority is to bring in a new midfielder to replace John Lundstram.

Connor Barron joined this summer but Ryan Jack left as well and Steven Davis announced his retirement last season.

Rangers must bring in quality to replace John Lundstram

Gers should look for a dynamic and physical midfielder to replace Lundstram.

The ideal player should possess strong defensive capabilities, including tackling and intercepting, to provide a solid foundation in the midfield.

Clement would also want him to have good passing accuracy and range to help control the tempo of the game and initiate attacks from deep positions

Moreover, the replacement should have leadership qualities and the ability to perform under pressure, as the Scottish Premiership often presents high-stakes matches.

To sign such a player, Rangers should utilise their scouting network to identify suitable candidates from leagues that offer good value for money, such as the Scandinavian leagues or the English Championship.

In terms of negotiations, Gers should be proactive and decisive, ensuring that secure their targets before other clubs enter the fray.

They should also be prepared to invest a significant amount, as quality midfielders are in high demand and often command substantial fees.
