Rangers manager Philippe Clement is "keen" on adding another striker to his squad with Cyriel Dessers looking likely to depart, according to the Scottish Daily Mail.

The Scottish Mail reported in their print edition (26 June, page 69) that the Belgian wants to sign at least one more forward this summer, with a deal for Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane close to completion.

Greek side PAOK and current Gers number nine Dessers are reportedly at an "advanced level" in talks over a transfer away from of Ibrox, meaning Clement could be left with a dearth of options up front [Glasgow World, 27 May].

As well as edging closer to signing Igamane, the light blues are also keen on Scotland striker Lawrence Shankland and Kosovo's Albion Rrahmani as Clement's major overhaul of his squad gathers pace.

Cyriel Dessers transfer could be surprise blessing for Rangers

Despite finishing the season as their clear first-choice striker and their top scorer with 22 goals in all competitions, there's an argument that the Gers still never really saw the best of Dessers.

Some high-profile misses from the Nigerian, particularly in matches which saw the light blues lose any grip whatsoever on the Scottish Premiership title, drew the ire of pundits aplenty as his lack of ruthlessness in front of goal was laid bare [Keith Jackson, 27 May].

There is a sense that a second season at Ibrox - with the lessened pressure of having better support in attack - could be the perfect environment for Dessers to thrive, but PAOK's advances suggest that the chances of that happening are minimal.

Clement needed to bring in a new striker regardless of if Dessers stayed put this summer, but with his departure looking increasingly likely, it could free up the funds, squad space and starting XI position necessary for the Gers to really push the boat out for Shankland or Rrahmani [Alan Hutton, 18 June].
