Rangers are reportedly yet to submit an official bid to secure the services of Everton midfielder Tom Davies in the January transfer window.

According to the Fourth Official [9 January], while there is interest from the Ibrox club, they have not yet made any official approach.

It’s understood that the Gers are keen on signing a midfielder this month with Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell also being linked.

Worth signing?

Davies has been at Everton all his career and has come up the ranks at Goodison Park to become a first-team player.

However, game time has been hard to come by for him with the Toffees signing a number of midfielders over the last seasons.

While they are no doubts over his talent, they still do not deem him good enough to be a regular for Frank Lampard’s side.

This means that he could be looking to leave in order to get regular game time and Rangers could certainly be the right club for him.

Carlo Ancelotti is also understood to be a fan of the player and said about him in 2020, “I think the base of his quality is in my opinion [is that he is a] powerful midfielder, a dynamic midfielder.

“Where he could improve and where he has improved is [the ability to] manage the ball better, to manage the possession better and tactically he is doing well.”

He would certainly be a shrewd addition for Michael Beale’s side and it remains to be seen if they end up following up on their interest.
