Nicolas Raskin 'nonsense' called out live on air after Rangers transfer latest
Nicolas Raskin continues to be in the headlines after staying at Rangers in the transfer window.
The Belgium international was expected to leave the Gers after the 2026 World Cup, but ended up staying.
Derek McInnes was planning for a future without the 25-year-old, but he has now become a key part of the Light Blues' plans.
There will surely be speculation around Raskin's future at Ibrox in the coming months and Aston Villa have been linked with him recently.
The Premier League club are said to be keeping an eye on the Belgian ace, who will enter the final year of his contract at the end of the season.
While the ex-Standard Liege ace will surely be influential in the Govan side's success under McInnes, it remains to be seen how long they can hold on to him.
Why Aston Villa and Nicolas Raskin rumours make no sense
Raskin was ready to leave Rangers in the summer, but a move didn't materialise.
Several teams across Europe will likely be watching the midfielder's performances for club and country, but certain destinations may not be realistic.
Scottish journalist Mark Guidi expressed scepticism when told of recent reports that Villa still admired Raskin after looking at him in the summer.
The claims that the Belgium international could be of interest at Villa Park have been dismissed.
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show on 6 October, Guidi said, "At that kind of price level, for around £15m, if Villa really wanted Raskin, they would've made it happen. We're not talking about £40m or £50m.
"We're talking about a club that has got money to spend. So if they really thought Raskin was their man, they would've bought him because there was a lot of change at Villa during the summer.
"So I think sometimes some of the outlets involved are miles off it, I have to be honest with you. Some of it's just clickbait nonsense."
Who can replace Nicolas Raskin at Rangers?
Raskin will surely eventually leave Rangers and McInnes will need to find a replacement.
At the club, the Gers have made several additions to their engine room in recent months with Tochi Chukwuani, Dan Neil, Cammy Devlin and Vanja Dragojevic.
The Belgian ace has formed a solid partnership with the ex-Sunderland ace, and there's no clear-cut candidate to succeed him.
Chukwuani's profile seems similar to Raskin, but the Danish youngster has struggled for opportunities under McInnes.
Fans in G51 also haven't seen a lot of Dragojevic since his move from Partizan.
The Govan side may probably have to dip in the market to find someone with the quality and leadership skills of the Belgium international.
