Minsu Kim has had a stunning start to his Rangers career.

The winger joined the Gers from Girona in the summer, arriving for a fee worth £8.5million.

He attracted Ibrox officials after an impressive loan spell with FC Andorra in Spain's second tier last term, as there was a desperate need for wingers just before he joined.

Derek McInnes was pushing for wide players as the clock was ticking on the summer window, and Kim was one of several wingers to join the Gers when it was all said and done.

The 20-year-old has competition from the likes of Daisuke Yokota, Findlay Curtis and Badredine Bouanani.

But Kim has emerged as McInnes' favourite right-winger so far, and the South Korea international has already increased his market value.

Kim started at right wing in both of the Old Firm wins over Celtic before the break, playing a particularly crucial part in the victory at Celtic Park.

He was subsequently called up to South Korea's senior team for the first time, and has since played three times for his nation over the break.

Ibrox chiefs were fully aware that they were spending a chunk of their budget on Kim, but also knew that they could rake in the big bucks from a potential sale in the future.

As highlighted by a Korean football account on X, Kim's Transfermarkt value has surged and almost doubled from £4.25m to £7.65m.

That's a £3.4m increase from when he first joined the Gers.

Though this is not an indication of what Rangers value him at, the near-double price increase could prove that the Gers also value him at around twice what they paid for him already.

His contract only helps Rangers' case.

How Kim's contract shows Rangers the pound signs

Kim was reportedly earning £154,000 per year at Girona, which works out to £3,000 per week.

The average Rangers player earns £16,000 in Govan, which suggests the youngster was given a wage bump when joining the Gers.

He signed a four-year deal until 2030, which also includes the option of another year.

This benefits Rangers because the longer the deal is, the more they have to amortise and stretch out payments to Girona.

Rangers could very well value Kim at over £15m already, but they will not be looking to sell anytime soon.
