Rangers want to sign Lewis Ferguson from Bologna in the ongoing transfer window.

The Scotland international is attracting plenty of interest this summer, with his situation at the Italian club uncertain at the moment.

There has been talk of the Light Blues pulling off a deal to sign the midfielder in recent weeks, but it remains to be seen what the future holds for him.

For now, Ferguson has already held talks with Bologna's management over his future amid interest from Ibrox.

The 26-year-old moved to Stadio Renato Dall'Ara in 2022 from Aberdeen, but could be presented with an opportunity to return to the William Hill Premiership by the Glaswegian outfit.

Derek McInnes was the manager who developed the Scottish ace at Pittodrie Stadium before he got the big move to Serie A and he could reunite with the 54-year-old head coach soon.

Rangers target Lewis Ferguson to evaluate summer transfer offers

Bologna signed Ferguson for a package deal of £3million and want no less than £17.2 plus add-ons to sell him in the coming weeks.

The Italian club are waiting to receive offers for the midfielder, who struggled for regular game time under Vincenzo Italiano in the 2025-26 campaign, but Domenico Tedesco has now taken over the Serie A side.

According to Il Resto Del Carlino on 28 June, before leaving for the World Cup, the Scottish ace told Bologna he wanted to assess his situation and review any approaches from big clubs or the Premier League.

Scotland were knocked out of the 2026 World Cup's group stages and Ferguson's future will be one to keep an eye on in July.

Ibrox hierarchy can trump competition for Lewis Ferguson

A swap involving Nicolas Raskin and Ferguson has been mooted, with the Rangers midfielder likely on his way out soon.

The Belgium international will surely have a lot of eyes on him at the World Cup and it wouldn't be surprising to see the Light Blues finally cash in on the 25-year-old midfielder after speculation around his future since last summer.

McInnes could use the predicament surrounding Raskin to his advantage by using him to win the race for Ferguson's signature, but only time will tell whether the Gers will succeed with that approach.
