Kosta Nedeljkovic's time at Rangers may be extremely shortlived.

The 20-year-old signed for Derek McInnes' side on loan in the summer, but has barely featured.

The Aston Villa loanee has not featured in the Ibrox side's last four matches, with small injury problems.

The right-back has been omitted from the team as the boss has been unwilling to drop Dujon Sterling.

Nedeljkovic's last appearance was on 2 September in the 2-1 Scottish Premiership win over Falkirk.

Now, questions have been asked about his future already.

Nedeljkovic had interest from Osasuna and other clubs, but ultimately decided on a move to Govan.

The Bears have a conditional obligation to buy the defender from Villa at the end of his loan spell.

That will likely depend on the amount of appearances that he makes between now and the end of the campaign.

A report from Serbian outlet Mondo on Sunday claimed that the Light Blues outcast is attracting interest from foreign clubs.

In their player ratings from Serbia's defeat to the Netherlands, they said: “There is no playing time for him even in Rangers, so Kosta is still wanted by foreign clubs.”

Where has it gone wrong for Nedeljkovic at Rangers?

McInnes has settled on a team at the moment, and that is getting results.

There is little reason to chop and change each week and risk things going pear-shaped.

The manager summed it up best when describing fellow Serb Vanja Dragojevic's situation at the club.

He said: “We have settled in recent weeks on a system.

“The same back four, same midfield two. Some form of three behind a main striker or a front two of some sort.

“We're just trying to find a bit of consistency of selection and consistency of results, which we've seen."

It is simply just a matter of waiting for an opportunity and then taking it when it comes along, it is a long season, and there will be chances to upset the apple cart.

Nedeljkovic just needs to be patient and wait for it to come, there is no need for any talk of a departure at this stage.

Perhaps, the G51 club may ultimately seek to terminate the deal, but there have been no suggestions of that happening yet.

They will need all the quality depth that they can get, as they look to pip the likes of Celtic and Hearts to the title.

Nedeljkovic may not have had the perfect start, but he can come into his own as the season progresses, and should be kept around for now.
