Kasanwirjo passes Rangers medical ahead of Ibrox transfer on Deadline Day

Neraysho Kasanwirjo has passed a medical to sign for Rangers on the final day of the summer transfer window, according to Chris Jack.

The Rangers Review journalist reported on Friday (30 August) that the 22-year-old right-back is completing formalities ahead of a loan move to Ibrox.

Kasanwirjo spent last season on loan at Rapid Vienna in Austria and has played twice for Feyenoord in their opening three Eredivisie games this season.

Kasanwirjo will have to adapt to Scottish football fairly quickly because James Tavernier's form over the last 12 months suggests Philippe Clement could consider dropping the club captain very soon.

In fact, Tavernier has been linked with a move away from Ibrox for a while now and due to Middle Eastern transfer windows not yet shutting, there could be the chance that he still moves out of Govan in the coming weeks.

However, it has gone fairly quiet on the Tavernier front in the last month or so and there's a good chance that Kasanwirjo is simply joining to provide support to the ex-Newcastle man. That, or he could end up replacing him totally in Clement's starting line-up.

Tavernier has been burnt out by Clement and his predecessors in the Ibrox hot seat.

He's a good goalscoring right-back who's superb at set-pieces. He's also been at the club for a long time and must be seen as a great leader behind the scenes. However, he's never been able to defend and that has always cost the Gers dearly in the big games.
