Josh Mulligan transfer twist emerges amid Rangers medical development

Rangers have been linked with a move to sign Dundee midfielder Josh Mulligan this summer.

The Ibrox outfit are looking to strengthen in multiple areas, giving Russell Martin the best chance of winning the title.

Last season, Rangers finished way behind Celtic in the SPFL table, in what was a forgettable campaign for most of the players.

Josh Mulligan unlikely to seal Ibrox transfer

Ibrox Noise claimed on 11 June that Mulligan was undergoing his medical ahead of a move to Rangers.

However, that was not understood to be the case as the Dundee star is no closer to joining Ibrox.

With a few days having passed since the news emerged, Rangers Review's Joshua Barrie reported on 14 June that Gers are not expected to bring the 22-year-old to the club this summer.

Burgess, after an impressive season with Ipswich Town, was on the Light Blues' radar for this window.

That does not appear to be going anywhere, as things stand, with Gers likely to pursue alternatives.

Rangers can focus on Conor Coady and Metinho instead

Rangers are prioritising a move for Leicester City’s Conor Coady to bolster their defence and could now make a move.

With talks ongoing, Coady’s leadership and versatility make him a prime target, especially as a move for Ipswich's Burgess appears unlikely.

In midfield, despite interest in Mulligan, a transfer is not expected to materialise, forcing the club to look elsewhere.

As a result, Rangers may turn their attention to Basel’s Metinho, a dynamic midfielder who could complement Martin’s possession-based style.

With the club aiming to strengthen the first team, Coady and potentially Metinho represent strategic additions to enhance competitiveness in the Scottish Premiership.
