John Souttar leads the list of Rangers stars whose contract expires at the end of the new season.

The Gers hired Derek McInnes to try and change their fortunes after Danny Rohl's exit to Red Bull Salzburg.

Several players, including the 24-cap Scotland international have extra motivation to impress the new Ibrox boss.

Rangers lost captain James Tavernier, Ben Davies and Leon King when their contracts expired just days ago, and they could be set to lose seven more next summer.

Souttar is the most high profile, and he is not guaranteed an extension after falling out of favour towards the end of the last campaign.

Ibrox News looks at who else could leave the Govan club at the end of the 2026-27 season.

Exiled first-team stars could leave Rangers next summer

Jose Cifuentes and Ross McCausland have been exiled from the senior side in recent years.

The former was signed in a £1.2million deal from LAFC but has spent the last two seasons out on loan, while the latter came through the academy, but spent last season with Aris Limassol in Cyprus.

FC Toronto rejected their option to purchase the Ecuadorian midfielder, so he will return to Ibrox for the upcoming campaign before his deal expires.

McCausland is reportedly willing to fight for his place but his contract situation provides little hope that will happen.

The Gers could also lose a few of their most talented academy players.

Who are Rangers academy prospects who could depart Ibrox?

Josh Gentles is probably the most high profile youngster who may leave at the end of next season.

The 18-year-old is one of the most promising talents in the Auchenhowie academy after his five goal League One campaign with Alloa Athletic.

The Light Blues hold an option to extend his terms by a further year, so hopefully they activate that.

Paul Nsio is another highly-rated youngster that could go, as his deal also expires at the end of the season.

The 20-year-old won three awards in his time with Raith Rovers, he is back in Govan hoping to add to his three senior appearances.

17-year-old Jack Caldwell is also at risk, as the professional contract he signed two-years ago is coming to an end.

New signing could be off after just one season

Finally, Ben Godfrey could be set for just one season with the Bears.

He signed on a one-year loan deal from Atalanta, but that does have a buy option, if McInnes' side want to sign him permanently.

It is believed to be around £3.8m, but whether they activate it, is unknown at this stage.
