Jim Gillespie overrides Derek McInnes answer to Rangers and Hearts transfer question at Ibrox unveiling
Derek McInnes has been officially unveiled as Rangers manager, and of course, talk of transfers has been brought up.
After taking Lawrence Shankland from Hearts and then following that up with hiring McInnes, there has been plenty of business between Ibrox and Tynecastle already.
The appointment of McInnes has already provided many links for Jam Tarts stars and and the new Rangers chief has addressed that fact.
McInnes will be looking to go one step further than he did at Tynecastle last year by bringing the Scottish Premiership back to Ibrox.
And new signings will certainly be the backbone of that challenge.
However, at the unveiling CEO Jim Gillespie also stepped in to provide an answer over Rangers' potential transfer dealings.
Will Rangers sign any more players from Hearts this transfer window?
After signing Shankland and taking McInnes, the latter has now poured cold water over any talk of more dealings between his former and current employers.
Speaking at his unveiling, McInnes responded to a question over transfers with Hearts stating: "As it stands, we're not looking to go and get anybody from Hearts."
The newly-appointed Gers chief was then asked if he could provide assurances to Hearts fans on that fact.
And McInnes reiterated that while business between the two could happen again at some point, in the immediate future conversations have not took place.
"Well, I'm not saying we won't do it all the time, but certainly not any conversations."
Interestingly, Gillespie was quick to jump in and override McInnes stating that "no assurances" will be given over that fact.
The CEO said: "I would never give any club any assurances that I'll never buy a player for them. Or a coach."
But, McInnes did seem quite eager to water down any concerns for his former club jumping in once more stating: "But with the players we've been discussing, there's no player under contract at Hearts we've been discussing."
While, McInnes has tried to put out the flame on signing one of his former stars, work is already underway for atleast one reunion at Ibrox.
A deal for Ross McCrorie looks to be advanced as per Rangers Review, with McInnes previously managing him at Aberdeen.
McCrorie is also a former Rangers academy graduate.
Which Hearts players have been linked with Rangers?
Of course, those questions over Rangers signing Hearts players have not come out of nowhere.
The Gers have been linked with Hearts' Portuguese striker Claudio Braga as per Football Fancast.
Meanwhile, Keith Jackson shared via the Daily Record that there was "belief" talks with Cammy Devlin had taken place.
However, based on McInnes' answer, that appears to be far from the case.
Nonetheless, that does not mean the pair will not end up at Ibrox but rather that as of now, no talks have taken place.
McInnes' answer does leave the chance for future discussions in the transfer window, especially with Gillespie being quick to jump in to answer on his behalf.
