How Rangers midfield will shape up after Connor Barron and Lyall Cameron transfer latest
Rangers have seen a mini overhaul in their midfield this transfer window.
The Gers signed Dan Neil, Cammy Devlin and Vanja Dragojevic early on in the summer to bolster their engine room.
Nicolas Raskin, Connor Barron, Tochi Chukwuani and Lyall Cameron are also at the Light Blues' disposal for now.
Derek McInnes is looking to build a winning squad at Ibrox and the engine room has seen significant changes in recent weeks.
The Scottish manager has made some bold calls since taking over at the Glaswegian outfit, with several incomings and outgoings.
There may yet be more chopping and changing at the Govan side, especially in the middle of the park before deadline day.
What Connor Barron and Lyall Cameron have been told about Rangers future
Sevilla's recent interest in Barron was dismissed after claims that the LaLiga side wanted to sign him.
When McInnes took over, many speculated the Scottish midfielder could play a big role at Ibrox, given the importance the ex-Hearts boss places on a local core of players.
Andrew Cavenagh also talked about the need for more Scottish DNA at the Glaswegian outfit early in the window.
Cameron is another player who many would have expected to be given an opportunity after McInnes replaced Danny Rohl.
However, according to the Rangers Review on 22 August, Barron and Cameron will be moved on in the coming days.
It looks like the midfield duo have been told that they have no future under the 55-year-old head coach in G51.
Barron's time in Govan could come to an end after two years, while it looks like Cameron, who signed last summer and spent the second half of the season on loan at Aberdeen, won't get a chance to prove himself at Ibrox.
Why Derek McInnes is left with Ibrox midfield dilemma
Raskin is another player whose exit from Rangers looks inevitable, with the report claiming that initial approaches from England, Italy and Spain have been made for the Belgium international.
That would certainly leave McInnes with a lack of creativity in the middle of the park.
Neil, Devlin, Dragojevic and Chukwuani have similar defensive-minded profiles, which highlights a lack of balance in the engine room.
Thelo Aasgaard is the only player capable of making things happen consistently in the final third.
The Glaswegian outfit clearly lack a midfielder capable of unlocking defences and it remains to be seen whether the recruitment team will address that situation after Raskin, Barron and Cameron's exits.
