Rangers seem to be honing in on a move for Aston Villa's Kosta Nedeljkovic.

Derek McInnes wants to add another right-back to his Rangers group, despite having already signed Ross McCrorie this summer.

Gers are clearly still feeling the absence of James Tavernier from their squad, but that was always to be expected.

Nedeljkovic has now emerged as a target for Rangers over the past few days, with the 20-year-old struggling to break into Aston Villa's first-team plans under Unai Emery as of yet.

Despite that, he is an 11-cap Serbian international who has spent the last season-and-a-half out on loan with German giants RB Leipzig.

That highlights how much potential Nedeljkovic has, and he could soon be bringing that to Ibrox.

Why Rangers may have to wait for permanent Kosta Nedeljkovic deal

McInnes appears to have a number of right-back transfer targets to choose from as we head into the final few weeks of the summer window.

Club Brugge's Hugo Siquet is another name now being touted with Rangers, but a deal for Nedeljkovic could be the preferred choice.

According to a report from the Daily Mail on Tuesday, Rangers are looking to sign Nedeljkovic from Aston Villa for £4million.

However, it's claimed that the Serbian may join on an initial loan deal, meaning that fee would have to be packaged as part of an option or obligation to buy at the end of the loan agreement.

But who else is interested in Nedeljkovic, and could they be a more attractive proposition than Rangers?

Who are the La Liga side set to rival Rangers for Nedeljkovic?

Given his youthful age, international pedigree and the fact he's already got some big clubs on his CV, it's no surprise to see interest arriving for Nedeljkovic this summer.

He may be inexperienced and yet to truly prove himself at senior level, but the Serb is clearly a very highly-rated right-back who has the tools to enjoy a successful career.

And if Rangers want that to be at Ibrox, then they may have to fend off competition from Spanish La Liga outfit, Osasuna.

The aforementioned Daily Mail report also explicitly names Luis Ramis' side as being interested alongside Rangers.

Osasuna narrowly avoided relegation from La Liga last season on goal difference, which came as a shock given in the previous six campaigns they've had in Spain's top division, they'd never finished below 11th.

So, they appear to be a club in a bit of trouble at the minute, and the prospect of European football as well as challenging for silverware at Rangers could mean Nedeljkovic would prefer a move to Govan.
