How much Rangers could save as Danilo talks start for Ibrox exit
Rangers are finally starting to clear some of their deadwood from Ibrox.
Derek McInnes is now in post at Auchenhowie, and transfer business has been in overdrive ever since.
Despite six new signings being made, including Lawrence Shankland and Cammy Devlin also coming from Hearts, exits are yet to begin.
With Rangers currently in pre-season training camp in Spain, clues have started to fall about who isn't favoured under new management.
Danilo is one of those, and the Brazilian forward was left back at Auchenhowie to sort out his future.
That could be resolved soon, with interest progressing for the striker.
Rangers finally start to sell up at right time
Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers have been spending significantly since their arrival, but sales haven't followed.
Rangers don't have a dreadful past of selling players, but do have history with the likes of Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos leaving for nothing.
You can counter that with the big-money sales of Calvin Bassey and Nathan Patterson, though.
As for Danilo, Sky Sports report that talks have been opened with Botafogo which could see the Brazilian return to his home country.
It is said they've made their move for the 27-year-old, who has another two years left on his current deal at Ibrox.
How much does Danilo earn at Rangers?
Ibrox News has previously shared that Danilo is on approximately £26,000-per-week, or £1.3million-a-year.
That isn't small change in the Scottish Premiership, and with other big names like John Souttar also possibly moving on, it opens the door to even more new signings.
McInnes and Rangers will know that they can't just continue to splash cash without trimming the squad and earning some back.
Danilo could be the first step towards that.
The Brazilian has never shied away from showing his passion and anger, something Barry Ferguson loved when he raged at not coming off the bench in the Europa League against Fenerbahce, via Daily Record.
Unfortunately, though, too many injuries and not enough returns on the pitch overshadow that passion.
Now is the right time to part ways, and Rangers can move forward as they look to return to glory under McInnes.
