Rangers are edging closer to completing the signing of Ross McCrorie.

The 28-year-old could soon be on his way back to Ibrox, six years after his initial departure.

After breaking through into the first team, the academy product made over 50 appearances for the Light Blues.

He eventually sealed a 2020 switch to Aberdeen where he featured regularly for three seasons.

The Scot has followed suit at Ashton Gate and after another three year spell, looks set to make a move.

McCrorie appears to be in line to agree a Rangers turn shortly after the introduction of Derek McInnes.

£2m Ross McCrorie fee agreed as future prediction shared

The Light Blues were always going to be in the market for a new right back this summer.

After James Tavernier's departure was confirmed at the end of the season, a replacement was going to be needed.

It appears that one option has already been found for the G51 outfit in the shape of the former Rangers academy ace.

Four Lads Had A Dream reported on Wednesday that the Gers are closing in on a deal to re-sign McCrorie.

A fee worth around £2million will be paid to Bristol City in a deal they describe as a "solid signing" and "sensible".

With an announcement seemingly close, it will be interesting to see how soon that comes after McInnes' press conference at 3pm on Wednesday.

What wage could McCrorie be on at Rangers?

For that sort of fee, there is every chance that the right-back could welcome a pay rise in Govan.

There are contrasting reports over how much the two-time Scotland international is paid at Ashton Gate.

The Robins could pay the defender between £5,000 and £7,700 per week in the Championship.

That could see him earn upwards of £10,000 per week as part of an Ibrox return to come in line with the likes of Mohamed Diomande, Thelo Aasgaard and Connor Barron.

He could fit in well in that bracket and potentially have incentives to help increase that salary to fall higher in the G51 pecking order.

A salary in the region of £20,000 which reportedly ranks him alongside Djeidi Gassama, Youssef Chermiti and Dujon Sterling which could also prove to be fair further down the line.
