Rangers have seen highly-rated teenage forward Chris Condy snapped up by Premier League side Brighton.

The 16-year-old joined Rangers' academy system from Hamilton in the summer of 2025, and quickly started turning heads.

A Scotland youth international, he's turned out for Rangers B as well as the Under-18s, and had already scored over 20 goals for Gers by mid-January this year.

Due to only being 16, however, Rangers haven't been able to sign him to a professional contract, thus opening the door for another team to come and poach the striker from Auchenhowie.

The pathway to first-team football at Ibrox can be tough for youngsters given the weight of expectation placed on those who pull on the shirt, but Condy appeared to have as good a chance as any to ascend into Gers' senior ranks.

Alas, they will now have to lick their wounds, as the youngster charts a new course that is taking him all the way down to the Sussex coast of England, with Premier League stardom now in his sights.

Chris Condy 'can't wait' to get cracking with Brighton

This news won't come as a surprise to Rangers chiefs nor many supporters, as this move to Brighton has been in the works for some time now.

Indeed, the Daily Record reported back in early March this year that the Seagulls had agreed a fee with Rangers to sign Condy, and that the teenager had already been granted permission to undergo a medical and discuss terms with them.

The Light Blues are understood to have offered fresh terms to the teenager in the hopes he would stay in Glasgow, but the allure of the Premier League has proven too large.

Since that initial news broke, things have gone fairly quiet on the progress of the deal, but taking to his Instagram account on Monday evening, Condy himself has now confirmed that he's a Brighton player.

"Delighted to have signed for Brighton," Condy wrote. "Proud moment for myself and family, can’t wait to get started!

Condy's former Rangers B team comrades Findlay Curtis and Josh Gentles reacted by liking his post, who will no doubt be keeping a close eye on how their former teammate gets on in English football.

Condy had the mentality to be Rangers star

As aforementioned, you have to have that special something about you as a Rangers youngster if you are to make it at Ibrox.

Pulling on the royal blue in front of a packed out Ibrox crowd is not for the faint of heart, and representing a club like Rangers demands you to have a winning mentality.

Condy, despite his tender age, has already proven that he had the minerals to be a future first-team sensation in Glasgow, but now that may never be realised.

Speaking to Rangers' official club website in October 2025 when asked about the Under-18's progress in the Scottish Youth Cup, Condy hit the nail on the head when discussing what he felt it meant to play for Gers.

“Youth Cup being a drive to deliver silverware? It always is, when you come through the gates here, it is always about winning," he said.

“I think that is what you need to do at the football club, so it is just about continuing that."

Who knows, maybe one day Condy will return to Rangers and fulfil his ambition of winning things at Ibrox, but for now, he's got a fantastic opportunity to make a name for himself at the top of English football.
