Graeme Souness tips Celtic transfer annoyance in 'wonderful' Rangers prediction
Graeme Souness is confident about Rangers' chances in the Scottish Premiership this season.
The Gers have clawed their way back up the table after an underwhelming start under Derek McInnes.
After the two Old Firm derbies, the Light Blues have turned the mood about their prospects in the Scottish Premiership.
McInnes showed Martin O'Neill just how much better Rangers were than Celtic after back-to-back dominant wins.
The Hoops have won five in a row, with the Govan side's last win coming in the 2020-21 campaign under Steven Gerrard.
Last season, the ex-Hearts boss missed out on the league title on the final day of the season, but he has an opportunity to put things right.
Graeme Souness rates Rangers title chances
Rangers have set themselves up for success in the Scottish Premiership, which has definitely sparked nervousness around G40.
The Light Blues flipped the mood in Glasgow after what they did to Celtic in the two games at Ibrox and Celtic Park.
Souness now believes the Gers have put themselves in a position to be top of the table at the end of the season.
With the board set up the right way, the Govan side made significant investment in the summer that has arguably worked out, but that's not something the East End of Glasgow can boast about.
Speaking to the Rangers Review on 9 October, Souness said: "How can I put it? I think we have a wonderful opportunity.
"We have a wonderful opportunity with how our board is set up. I think you can always find money for players; it's just about getting the right ones.
"I think, in the East End of Glasgow, they might be annoyed with themselves that they haven't strengthened and got better players than what they've got right now at their disposal.
"I see it as a wonderful opportunity to be number one again."
Who Derek McInnes' Ibrox hero will be this season
McInnes has found some reliable players at Rangers to lead the team to glory.
Dujon Sterling, Emmanuel Fernandez, Olwethu Makhanya and James Penrice have formed a formidable backline.
Nicolas Raskin and Dan Neil's midfield partnership has been magnificent, while Djeidi Gassama and Minsu Kim have impressed out wide.
The front line of Kevin Kelsy and Ryan Naderi is working well, but the Czechia international could be the most important player under the Scottish manager.
McInnes certainly rates the former Hansa Rostock striker's work rate and determination highly, and he seems to be the most important player in the way the ex-Hearts boss wants his team to play.
