Former Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara is set to leave Leeds United after a single season amid rave reviews from old Ibrox allies, according to ElmoTV.

The Finnish website published via Jukka Ronka [14 July] that Kamara is set to move to Rennes in France.

The deal has been reported from Fabrizio Romano via X [13 July] to be worth up to £8.4m, considerably higher than the fee to lure the player from Glasgow in 2023.

Steven Gerrard was the most notable profile to hold Kamara in high regard, with the report describing him as a "stalwart" under the title-winning Gers boss, for whom the midfielder was a key squad member both domestically and in Europe.

Rangers are set to benefit from a sell-on windfall of a reported £860,000 sum [Daily Record, 13 July] from the Kamara deal between Leeds and Rennes, which can be reinvested into the mammoth squad rebuild project under Nils Koppen and Philippe Clement this summer.

The mysterious factor of Kamara's second transfer in little over 12 months is that the opinions on him appear to be rather polarising.

While Gerrard - one of the UK's finest midfield players of all-time - lauded the Finn's impact in the middle of the park for his Rangers team, and Arsene Wenger handing him his senior Arsenal debut in 2015, others have not been so complimentary.

Kamara was out of favour under Giovanni van Bronckhorst, and several Finland national team coaches such as Jussi Leppalahti and Joel Perovuo have criticised his attitude according to the ElmoTV report.

He has however enjoyed a positive season at Leeds, making 42 appearances in all competitions under Daniel Farke which has seen his stock rise considerably in a short timeframe.

The 28-year-old credits fellow former Light Blues midfielder Steven Davis as a player he learned a great deal from.
