Elijah Just has commented on his Motherwell future amid links with Rangers.

The 26-year-old earned rave reviews for a fine Scottish Premiership campaign where he notched seven goals and eight assists in 30 matches.

That has reportedly sparked interest from the Gers, as well as their arch-rivals, and champions Celtic

The Ibrox target can play across the front three and as a number 10, and his versatility could be an asset for Danny Rohl.

Rangers should have confidence that they can sign Just, as he did little to close the door on a transfer with his latest comments.

What did Elijah Just say about his future?

Rangers target Just has said that he is not focused on his future right now, but he did admit that he does not know what will happen.

He said: “There is speculation, but I’m just focused on the World Cup, and hopefully I can show myself a little bit better than I did against Haiti.

“Who knows what will happen? If I’m heading back to Motherwell, we’ve got exciting European games and whatever else.

“It’s [nice] to hear my name mentioned with big clubs and it’s not something I expected going in. But it’s a testament to not only my hard work but the whole squad. We were brilliant last season, but it’s not only me who deserves plaudits and links.

“A few of the boys have been outstanding. I want to play at the highest level, absolutely. I’ve been bouncing around lower leagues in my career so to take a step this year and show a little bit of my potential was nice.

“But of course, everyone wants to keep pushing and test themselves to see how far they can go.”

Rangers to exploit Jens Berthel Askou exit as Elijah Just set to evaluate offers

The fact he said if when talking about playing for the Steelmen again suggests that his mind is on an exit, and has left the door open for the Light Blues.

How does Just compare to Rangers’ options?

Just’s seven goals and eight assists in the league, would put him joint-third on the Gers’ goalscoring list and outright top of the assist charts.

Only Youssef Chermiti and the departing James Tavernier scored more times in the division, while Nicolas Raskin was the top assister with seven.

Clearly, the New Zealand star would add a different element to Rohl’s side, one that could propel them to the required level to challenge their Glasgow rivals and Hearts for the title.

He is clearly ready for a move after what he has said, now it is up to the Bears to convince him that they are the right destination for his career to thrive

Given the blatant attacking deficiencies in the squad and the wages that the 49ers and Andrew Cavenagh, the majority owners, can offer, that should be an easy task.

The Hoops may have an equally convincing pitch though, but the challenge of overcoming them may be an interesting aspect in Just’s decision-making.

Gers supporters will hope that gives their side the edge, but only time will tell which team wins the race for the attacker, if he chooses to leave his current club.
