Rangers’ squad this summer is likely to undergo many changes as speculation heightens about their long-term futures.

Many stars at Rangers could depart this summer as the 49ers prepare to take over the Scottish club.

Nico Raskin’s future is uncertain going into the transfer window, with a big bid expected.

On top of this, Václav Černý appeared to wave goodbye to Rangers fans after their 3-1 victory over Dundee United.

However, one player who may now stay at Ibrox is Cyriel Dessers after a recent development regarding his potential departure.

Dessers ‘wants to remain in Scotland’ amid AEK Athens interest

Despite being the top scorer in the Scottish Premiership, the striker has missed some golden chances at the Gers, which has led to thoughts that the Glaswegians can upgrade on the Belgian.

Dessers has proved himself to be a regular goalscorer at Rangers

Now, Rangers may have found a potential destination for the striker this summer as AEK Athens have shown interest in bringing Dessers to Greece

However, according to Sport24 (16 May), the 30-year-old has no interest in a move across the continent.

The report states that the transfer is “extremely difficult” with Dessers wanting to remain in Scotland.

Rangers must keep hold of Dessers

Unless an outrageous offer comes in, Rangers would do well to keep hold of Dessers this summer.

The striker is a proven goalscorer, not just in Scotland, but in Europe too, despite the Gers’ poor season.

If they were to sell the 30-year-old, there is no guarantee that his replacement would find the back of the net as regularly as the Belgian.

Hopefully, whoever becomes the next Rangers manager sees this and opts to keep Dessers.
